Peter Panfilov is a Professor in the Department of Condensed State Physics at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Since 1986, his scientific interests have been closely connected with the problem of plastic deformation and fracture of refractory platinum group metals and their composites, including deformation mechanisms, fracture nodes and processing. The academic aspects of his research aim to understand the physical nature of deformation and fracture in single crystals and polycrystalline aggregates. He is a coauthor of the book “Metallurgy and Mechanical Properties of Iridium” – and a co-editor of the book of Proceedings of the International Symposium on Iridium.
