The catalyst is heated by burning the coke deposited on it during cracking, and a decomposable compound of Pt, Pd, Ru, Ir, Os, Rh or Re is introduced into contact with the cracking catalyst during the process. The cracking catalysts used are aluminosilicate zeolites.
